Day 10: Globe to Safford (75 miles) March 21

Nothing but blue skies today. Started out chilly.

Globe is not a bicycle friendly town. In fact, most of the route to Safford was not intended for bicycle traffic, and I would say very few of the motorists appreciated us being there.

There were a few hills at the beginning then the roads were flat. There was a nice crisp breeze in the air and a tailwind for the last 20 miles. Rode by acres of cotton fields in Pima. Pima cotton is one of the highest quality cottons available.

SAG stops at 20, 40 and 60. 2 flats tires in the group today. Not mine! I’m sure my turn is coming 🤭. Stopped at a popular place called Meg’s for lunch.

4 of us we’re riding together when we got pulled over by the San Carlos Apache police 👮‍♀️ for riding on the left side of the fog line (aka the white line) 🙄. Nice officer. Just wanted us to avoid getting hit. He asked where we were going. We said Florida. Not sure he believed us. 🤷‍♀️ Got a whole TED talk on bike safety. He never mentioned why the bike lanes in his town were covered in gravel, mud and debris 🤔. After our chat we pedaled as fast as we could to get out of his jurisdiction!😏 Thanks Barnie Fife! Good times! 😎

Tomorrow we ride into New Mexico!
