Cue the Rocky theme song! I. Did. It.
šš»šš» I climbed Emory Pass! This was the most exhilarating day of cycling since I left San Diego.
The ride up to Emory Pass has been listed as one of the greatest cycling climbs in the country. It is the lowest altitude crossing of the Rockies at 8,268 feet. Lots of switch backs and winding roads. Breathtaking view from the summit, Emory Pass Vista. On a clear day, you can see for 30 miles. Todayās weather was perfect. The descent was rather scary š³.
Tonight weāre staying at the Black Range Lodge in Kingston. I donāt know how to describe this place other than itās a quirky bed and breakfast lodge that dates back to the 1880's, when the Lodge housed miners and cavalry. It sits in the foothills of the Gila National Forest surrounded by Ponderosa pines. There are chickens, roosters and turkeys in the yard. Iām guessing the breakfast eggs will be fresh in the morning.šš³
