We had a leisure morning, ride started at 10:00. After yesterday’s ride, I welcomed the extra time to regroup. And, I enjoyed a second cup of coffee. ☕️
At the beginning of this adventure, I was faithful about my bike maintenance check list every morning. Now, I just pinch the tires. Got air? Good. Let’s go. 🙂🤞🏻
The sky was overcast, and we felt a few raindrops along the way. The temperature was steady in the low 70s. The terrain changed drastically. We started seeing a lot more green trees and flowers.
We reached Bracketville and our destination for the night. We are staying in the Fort Clark Springs Motel.
Fort Clark was a military base established in 1852 for the Indian Wars, and was closed in 1944. It is now a privately owned, gated resort and living community with 24 hour security. It is a nature resort with mega-pool, golf, hiking, and more. Our rooms are in converted barracks. The Alamo starring John Wayne, and Lonesome Dove were filmed here. And, General Patton was once in command here.
We had a champaign toast to celebrate surviving yesterday's tough ride. 🥂 We are all declaring victory over the day.
Some of us took a dip in the third largest outdoor spring-fed pool in Texas, Las Moras Spring pool. In the heat of the summer the spring-fed swimming pool always maintains a temperature of 68 degrees year-round. It is drained weekly and uses no chlorine.
Side note: Timberland tours is here tonight, too, and I checked out their tent city. 😏 I guess we’ll see them on the road tomorrow.🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻🚴♂️
