Rain, thunder and lightning last night through this morning. 🥺 The storm passed by the time we started. Overcast and windy but 72°.
The first third of the ride was through two parks, Bastrop State Park, and Buescher Park. We passed miles of pine trees, and rich green grass. A huge change from the first few weeks of yellow grass, cactus, and sand. Smooth rolling hills with 3 steep climbs. No traffic! Nice views at the overlooks.
The rest of the ride was through mostly quiet roads. Lots of cattle and horses. We passed through the small town of Winchester and then into La Grange.
The Texas Chicken Ranch, in La Grange, is the basis for the Broadway musical and later movie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. It also inspired the ZZ Top song "La Grange". 💫
When our riding days are short, like today, it’s usually due to hotel locations and availability. The next few days we will average 70 miles per day. For me, those days are long, especially when there are hills.

Making it to the top 🔝
Your photography is impressive! Not sure I could hold a camera steady after miles holding onto handlebars. Sleep well and get ready for tomorrow's ride.
Hmm don’t remember seeing that one at Toby’s… 🤣
Sounds beautiful! Guess you have figured out how to get up those multiple steep hills despite the burn in those quads of steel🔥. So impressive!!—cheering you on forward - keep them wheels a rollin…
