We had an early start this morning. 7:00 am for those of us who planned to ride the whole 92 miles. It started out on the cool side but by the first SAG, it was in the 80s. Hills, hot and headwinds sums up today’s ride. Thankfully, the headwinds were not terrible and the hills weren’t either.
Today we rode on US-90 E for about 89 miles. We rode through the town of Ponce De Leon, Cottondale and Defuniak Springs. The lake at Defuniak Springs is a perfect circle formed by natural springs.
The last 5 miles, as usual when coming into a town, are always the worst. Marianna had terrible traffic, a very busy road and no shoulder. At the end of a long ride when you’re tired and mentally exhausted, it’s the last thing you want to experience, in fact, it’s not safe.
Tomorrow we ride a half mile from the Georgia border on our way to Quincy. At mile 27 we cross the Apalachicola River and enter EST!!⏱ Finally, we ”east coast girls” are back in the correct time zone! We lose an hour but gain more daylight.

Looks like I’m going to miss a good time! 🐛
Late entry: My friend took this of me as I passed by on the Blackwater Heritage State Trail.
